Leading Edge brings a friendly and professional approach to flying which is not generally available elsewhere in Central Scotland.
Leading Edge consists of 2 divisions who work together to provide the best facility for pilots, aircraft owners, student pilots and instructors. Leading Edge Flight Training is our flying school for flight training, and operates from Cumbernauld and Perth. Leading Edge Flying Club at Cumbernauld provides the chance for pilots to expand their flying.
We are based at Cumbernauld Airport in the central belt of Scotland, and also provide training at Perth airport in association with the Scottish Aero Club.

flight training
If you want to learn to fly then the flying school at Leading Edge Flight Training are the people to talk to. We offer ab-initio training for the National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL) and for the full JAR-FCL PPL. For those who already hold a pilot's licence we also offer courses for IMC rating and night qualification. We can also arrange courses for anyone wishing to convert or upgrade their licence.
Learning to fly is fun and very rewarding. Experience the thrill for yourself by taking a trial lesson. Vouchers for trial lessons are available from our online shop and make ideal gifts.
flying club
The flying club is the chance to take your flying further. Our members are active in arranging day trips and tours across the UK and further to mainland Europe. We have a number of aircraft for hire, from the 2 seat Piper Tomahawk and Cessna 152 to the 4 Seater Piper Warrior and Archer. Hire can be arranged by the hour or for longer periods.
The club also gives PPLs the chance to join groups to share the cost of aircraft ownership
aerobatic experience
Leading Edge are pleased to announce the arrival of our newest aircraft, the legendary Pitts S-2a. This fully aerobatic biplane is now available for aerobatic training. Phone or contact us via email to arrange a trial aerobatic lesson or to start training.
